Kariann is Four Years Old Today!!!

ZD YouTube FLV Player

It’s my youngest daughter’s fourth birthday today.  Her name is Kariann, but everyone calls her Kari.  It’s amazing that we even got this footage tonight because 45 minutes earlier, Kari was running a 103 degree fever.  She was very lethargic and cranky and it did not look like she would be in the mood to sing happy birthday tonight.  But, we gave her some Motrin for kids and it took the fever down pretty quick.

I suspect she is still very sick, but she was able to muster up the spirit to do the "birthday thing" with the family, after her fever went down a bit.  Jasmine (the girl on the left) gave a great newscaster style commentary to begin the video (maybe she has a future in broadcasting), then we sang the birthday song "monster style" as requested by Kari.  Lucy had a bit of trouble withe candle lighting, so we broke away to take care of that.

Everyone in the family has been very sick lately.  It started with Jasmine, then Mom, then Kari and Dad.  We are all hoping to be all better by this coming Saturday when we have Kari’s public birthday party at the Build-A-Bear store at Southpoint Mall.

I hope you enjoyed the video footage of our family "birthday thing."  It’s not the best that I could do as far as quality goes, but it will do for now.  What would really help would be a digital video camera (I’m using a 4+ year analog camera) and a better CODEC (I was using a free one) to covert the video from MPEG to FLV (Flash 8).  Once I fix this by spending a little $$$ (something I don’t have much of these days), these videos should be more "movie trailer" quality.  But, I guess OK quality video is better than no video, right?

Finally, I just wanted to thank Phebe and Paul, and my Mom and Dad (Bachan & Pop) for the card and gifts we received in the mail for Kari.  We received them after checking the mail after the party.  Kari got a kick out of the cards and letters (I read them to her).  Kari also enjoyed talking to Phebe, Nana, and Grandpa Bill on the phone this evening.

We are looking forward to the Build-A-Bear store party on Saturday.  I will post another video of that event here, so stay tuned.
